UNH and Jambi Regional Broadcasting Commission Forge Strategic Partnership to Strengthen Youth Media Literacy

UNHNews - Nurdin Hamzah University (UNH) and the Jambi Regional Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPID) officially established a strategic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday, June 22, 2026. The agreement represents an important step toward strengthening broadcasting education and media literacy, particularly among university students and young people in Jambi Province.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Chairperson of the Jambi KPID, Asriyadi, S.Sos.I., M.Ag., along with the commission’s officials and staff. Representing UNH were its Rector, Dr. Samsuddin, S.Sos., M.I.P., and members of the university’s leadership. The participation of both institutions demonstrated their shared commitment to developing a productive and sustainable partnership.

In his remarks, the Rector of UNH emphasized the importance of broadcasting education and media literacy for younger generations amid the rapid flow of information and the continuing development of digital media. He stated that students should not merely become active media users but should also be able to understand, evaluate, and respond critically to the information they encounter.

Strong media literacy is expected to help students become intelligent, ethical, and responsible consumers and distributors of information. Through a deeper understanding of broadcasting, students are also expected to identify credible information, avoid spreading misinformation and hoaxes, and contribute to creating a healthier and more beneficial media environment.

Through this MoU, UNH and the Jambi KPID are committed to organizing various academic programs, including public outreach activities, seminars, internships, guest lectures, research, and community engagement. This collaboration is expected to broaden students’ knowledge of broadcasting and media literacy while strengthening both institutions’ contributions to building a society that engages with media critically, intelligently, and responsibly.
